Recently I have had lots of inspiration for my room to give it a total makeover. I tried to figure out a way of sprucing my room up without spending lots of money. It’s a little bit of a challenge, but I think with the right accessories and a few coats of paint, I think it is possible.
I plan on having a nature and bohemian theme in my room – by having lots of plants, metals and geometric shapes. Then using the colours of these to decorate different parts of my room, such as my bedding.
This is my desk, in its usual messy state. My plan is to organise a few of my drawers to help keep it tidier. Also I would like to remove the old stickers to give it a cleaner look. My desk, drawers and chair are all from Ikea.
I need to use all the decor pieces I already own as most of it will fit with my theme – and it will save on money. You might be wondering why I have a wind chime indoors? When my window is open it sometimes sets it off softly – which is actually quite relaxing. Plus it fits with the garden theme. I bought these picture frames from H&M and then pressed my own flowers between the glass.
Next to my desk is where I hang my mood board and I have some plants which I purchased from Homebase. This was to give the area some more greenery as a feel it can make a space feel more homely. The earthy tones I love! The cork on the board works well with the plant life. The plant holders I bought online and I’ve filled them with mini cacti, but one of my cacti died 🙁 I would like to put my cactus up on the wall, rather than them hanging from my self.
I have a beautiful vintage (slightly damaged) mirror, where I currently hang all my jewellery. I feel sorry for cupid on my mirror as I’m always choking him with my earrings. I need somewhere new to hang my jewellery and maybe fill some other space on my wall.
I have some art which I would like to hang up just above my shelf. My other art pieces I want to repaint to fit my new theme of my room. I like this one as it has the rose in the painting – which fits with my garden nature theme. I want to try and incorporate my own art work into my room as decorations – I love DIYing and giving it that personal touch.
This giant picture I’ve had on my wall for many years. I was thinking I wanted a change but without this picture, my room feels very small. It elongates a small room as the bridge is going into the distance of the photograph. Plus buying more art work may be expensive. I may decide to try and make it work, but I feel it doesn’t fit with my theme too nicely. It definetly needs some green life around it so I want to add some plant life around the edges of the picture.
Learning to make the most of your space can actually be quite difficult. A lot of my ideas I have already planned for my room, so this is the journey of how I create a beautiful room in a very small space. I hope this may be helpful to you who may be trying to decorate on a budget. Here is the begging of this project before I’ve done anything to my room, hopefully there is a drastic change by the end.
