The Fenty Beauty galaxy palette retails for £39 (I purchased mine from Harvey Nichols store in London) and contains 14 stunning glittery eyeshadow shades. One main appeal to this palette isn’t just the eyeshadow but also how beautiful the oil slick packaging looks. One downside is that once you touch it the compact will be covered in fingerprints, which are quite difficult to wipe off and make it look new again. This palette is a limited edition eyeshadow compact – made for Rhianna’s Holiday Collection.
When I first tried this palette I was quite disappointed in the pigment of some of the shadows, even with a wet brush they weren’t paying off as much as I had expected. So I did my research on why the pigment wasn’t paying off like I wanted. As it turns out, there are different types of shadows in the palette from glittering topcoats to smoky, shimmer-drenched hues. After realising this and swatching them again it was then obvious I had been applying the shadows completely wrong.
These shadows will apply much better over shadow looks for a pop of glitter rather than just on their own. Some of the formulas are different meaning some are not created to be applied just on their own and some are super pigmented and rich with colour. For best results, I would apply them on top of a tacky base such as a primer or even with a wet brush. These eyeshadows are ideal for the perfect cut cease, a pop of colour to the centre of the eye or even for an inner corner highlight.
I noticed some of the pigments did have quite a bit of fallout which stuck to my face and left me with purple glitter all on the side of my nose and under my eye. I was a glittery mess. If you are planning to use this palette for your makeup look I would definitely recommend applying eyeshadow before your face makeup, making it easier to clean up the fallout. But if it is too late and you have already applied your face makeup then I would use either a glitter adhesive or even something like MAC Fix+*, which is a bit stronger than your average primer and may help with the fallout.
These glimmering eyeshadows and topcoats are the ultimate accessory for every look. Swatching them on my arm really showed how pigmented these eyeshadows actually are and they are also easily buildable. I also noticed some of the darker pigments such as the blue actually stained my skin slightly, was a struggle to get them off.
I am so pleased with this palette – the quality of the shadows is amazing and they look absolutely stunning on the eyes. This is definitely a great palette to add to your makeup collection especially if you want to incorporate beautiful glitter into your looks. The colours contrast brilliantly with each other which doesn’t make the palette great to use for an entire eyeshadow look (because they are all shimmers and because some of the colours don’t pair well with each other), but look they amazing on top of other eyeshadows for a touch of shimmer.
